Are you an adult learning professional? Maybe you have recently been funded for an Adult Education project under Erasmus+? If so you might be interested in a new European Commission initiative aimed at people working in the adult education field called EPALE.
What is EPALE?
The Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe or EPALE is the latest development in the EU’s long-term commitment to promoting high quality adult learning in Europe. The site has been developed for teachers, trainers and volunteers, as well as policy-makers, researchers and academics involved in adult learning.
How could it benefit me?
The online platform will allow those working in adult education to access news and events and network with colleagues across Europe. The latest version now available in English has several new features, including an events calendar and a newsroom feature for updates in adult education best practice, policy updates and opportunities for funding to professionals working in adult education. Further site releases in all 24 EU languages will take place over the coming weeks and more features will be added to the site soon. How does this link to my Erasmus+ project? In Erasmus+ one of the key priorities is modernising and improving adult education through cooperation with other sectors. The site has been developed for teachers, trainers and volunteers, as well as policy-makers, researchers and academics involved in adult learning. A key addition in the next version of the site to be released later in the year will be a partner search function and forums so visitors to EPALE can get in touch and share expertise with their counterparts from all over Europe. EPALE development is steered by the European Commission and it is managed through the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency.
